Company History

Phase 4 Films has persevered through many changes and iterations to become one of the leading independent studios in North America .

Founded in 1996 as Telegenic Entertainment, the Company was then renamed kaBOOM! Entertainment in 2000. Our President & CEO, Berry Meyerowitz, was the first employee of the Company until he left to pursue other opportunities in September 1997.

In July 2003 Berry returned to the Company as our President and began building what is the core of our current business. Three years later, kaBOOM! Entertainment Inc. was sold to Peace Arch Entertainment Group and was subsequently renamed Peace Arch Home Entertainment, maintaining kaBOOM! Entertainment as its children’s and family label.

In 2007 the Company acquired Trinity Home Entertainment, an independent distributor in the U.S. market. Almost one year later to the day, the Company entered into a joint venture agreement with ContentFilm plc, a U.K. based public Company and the parent of Allumination Filmworks LLC, a U.S. distributor that had previously acquired the assets of UAV Corporation. This agreement called for Peace Arch Home Entertainment to oversee a newly created distribution operation consisting of the Peace Arch, Trinity Home Entertainment, Allumination and UAV catalogs, as well as new content acquired under the joint venture.

Finally, on April 20, 2009, Meyerowitz led a group of investors and reclaimed the home entertainment division from Peace Arch, renaming the Company Phase 4 Films. We are now one of the most active independent studios in the U.S. and Canada.

The Company continues to acquire high caliber films for theatrical and DVD Premiere release in the U.S and Canada. These films include 50 Dead Men Walking (Sir Ben Kingsley, Jim Sturgess), JCVD (Jean-Claude Van Damme), Towards Darkness (America Ferrera), Interview (Sienna Miller, Steve Buscemi), In the Name of the King (Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, Leelee Sobieski), The Deal (Meg Ryan, Bill Macy) and Mysteries of Pittsburgh (Sienna Miller, Jon Foster, Peter Sarsgaard, Mena Suvari, Nick Nolte).

Phase 4 Films is recognized as an authorized theatrical distributor by Telefilm Canada, and is also eligible to distribute Canadian Television Funded programming worldwide.

Phase 4 Films is one of the leading independent distributors that offers exploitation across all media in North America. Together with its theatrical, television, digital and ancillary sales teams, the Company has been successful in distributing films to airlines, hotels, traditional broadcasters, retailers and across multiple digital platforms.
